The centre, neighbourhood by neighbourhood

Each part of the centre has its own kind of doors and its own typical problems. Pick yours for more detail.

Sol & Gran Vía

Big, busy streets with a lot of hotels, offices and short-let apartments above the shops. Plenty of calls here are keys left inside a flat after a long day out, or a lock that gave up after years of guests. Locksmith in Sol & Gran Vía.

Malasaña

Old blocks, small flats, lots of young people and nightlife. Lost keys after a night out is the classic call, often in the small hours. Locksmith in Malasaña.

Chueca

Lively, central and full of rented apartments. Many flats have armoured doors that lock themselves when pulled shut. Locksmith in Chueca.

Lavapiés

Narrow, sloping streets and traditional buildings, some with shared balconies around an inner courtyard. Older locks and worn street doors are common. Locksmith in Lavapiés.

La Latina & Palacio

The oldest part of Madrid, near the Royal Palace, with historic buildings and busy weekend crowds. Heavy wooden doors and cylinders that stick are typical. Locksmith in La Latina & Palacio.

Huertas (Barrio de las Letras)

Pedestrian streets, bars and a lot of holiday lets. Visitors often struggle with key boxes and unfamiliar locks. Locksmith in Huertas.

Stuck outside in the centre? Start here

  1. Safety first. If a child or a vulnerable person is alone inside, or something is cooking, ring 112 before anything else.
  2. Try the easy options. A flatmate, your host or the building's portero (concierge) may have a spare key. It's worth two minutes.
  3. Call or WhatsApp me on +34 663 48 41 13. Say the street and the nearest corner or landmark. The WhatsApp button on the site asks to share your location and sends it to me as a Google Maps link, so I know exactly where you are.
  4. Agree the price and time. I quote the opening and tell you when I'll arrive, checked on Google Maps.
  5. Wait somewhere safe and light. A café or the building's doorway is fine. I'll call when I'm close.

Price for a lockout in central Madrid

A door opening in the centre is €150–250, travel included. The figure depends on:

  • The door: standard, blindada (armoured) or acorazada (reinforced).
  • The lock and whether the door was just pulled shut on the resbalón (the latch) or locked with the key.
  • Where I'm coming from.

I give you one number on the phone. If you also need a new bombín (the lock cylinder), that's from €150 and only if you want it. See every price on the prices page.

Working in the old centre: what to expect

Many buildings here are old, with a street door you open with one key and a flat door you open with another. Make sure you tell me which one is the problem. The centre has narrow streets, pedestrian zones and very little parking. That's normal and I plan for it. If my van can't stop at your door, I park nearby and walk over with the tools.

Before opening, I'll ask you to show that you live or are staying there: your ID with the rental contract, or the booking confirmation and a message from your host. It's quick, and it protects you.

Got back to find the door forced? Take photos, and if you're going to report it, leave everything as it is until the police have been. Then I'll secure the door and give you an invoice for the insurance.

Why call me and not a big company

Search "locksmith Madrid" and you'll find a lot of numbers that go to call centres. With me, it's simple:

  • You explain the problem in English to the person who will fix it.
  • The price is agreed before I leave, day or night.
  • I'm available 24 hours, all week.
  • You get a proper invoice, useful for your landlord, host or insurer.

How it works

Call, I come, I open

Call or WhatsApp me

Tell me what happened, what kind of door it is and where you are. A photo of the lock helps. Before I leave I tell you:

  • The price of the opening, fixed.
  • When I'll arrive, checked on Google Maps right then.

I come myself

No call centre. The person you speak to is the person who turns up.

If the door isn't what you described, I tell you before I touch anything and you decide.

I open the door

Without breaking the lock whenever possible. If it has to be broken, I explain why and ask first.

You pay what we agreed and get an invoice.

Guarantees

What I guarantee

The price I give is the price you pay

The opening price agreed on the phone doesn't go up when I arrive.

No parts without your OK

Cylinder, lock or reinforcement: quote first, then your yes. Say no and you only pay the opening.

Invoice, always

For every job, even at 3 a.m. You'll need it for your insurance or your landlord.
